IN MEMORIAM

Henri Leuzinger | 16/05/1935 - 01/08/2022

Born  in Glarus, Switzerland, Henri came to Australia in 1956 from Switzerland, where he did his apprenticeship as a cook, then worked in hotels. Arriving by ship he soon found a job as chef at the Hotel Belvedere in Sydney, then Head Chef at the Oceanic Hotel Coogee and Executive chef at St George Leagues Club. 

Henri opened the then largest revolving restaurant in the world, The Summit Sydney, as Executive Chef in 1968.

He joined Qantas Airline as worldwide Executive chef for 10 years, followed by 15 years as Food and Beverage Manager at Ansett.

Henri was the Team Chef of the Culinary Olympics Frankfurt in 1972. He was partner and Director of Uni-Chef, taken over by Ingham Enterprises in 1995, following which he worked for Inghams in research development for 10 years.

Henri was invited to join the Australian Catering Institute Sydney in the 1960s, was presented with a Life Membership of the ACF NSW in the early 1980s, and an Honorary Life Membership of the ACF in 2004.
