For the love of poultry: v2food debuts plant-based chicken

v2food, Australia’s leader in plant-based meat, has introduced a line of plant-based crumbed chicken products.

Available in two varieties within the foodservice channel; v2nuggets and v2schnitzel, the new products mark v2food’s third plant-based protein innovation after the success of the company’s v2mince and v2burger, and more recently plant-based pork in Asia.

As plant-based meats continue to gain popularity across the globe, v2food has ramped up research and development, working closely with food scientists at CSIRO to replicate the perfect texture, taste, and smell of chicken.

Australia is a chicken-loving country, ranking 5th globally by the volume of chicken we eat per capita[1]. Developing a chicken-like product was therefore the natural next step for v2food.

“Our mission is to help the global population live more sustainably by providing plant-based products, so a great tasting, easy to cook chicken range was always on the cards for v2food,” said Nick Hazell, CEO and founder of v2food. “We know Aussies love chicken – in fact, data shows that we eat an average of 45 kilos of poultry per year[2]. If you wanted to visualise just how much that is, it’s about the equivalent of 2,250 chicken nuggets a year, per person.

v2nuggets and v2schnitzel are Australian-made from soy, with no artificial colours or flavours, non-gmo and with the healthy benefits of protein, fibre and iron. The new products all have the juiciness, texture and flavour of chicken and are ready to cook and use in all your favourite recipes.

The v2schnitzel is a deliciously succulent country style schnitzel in a crunchy golden crumb. You can plate it with chips, on a bed of mash with gravy or into a burger bun for a plant-based meal everyone can enjoy.

The v2nuggets are lightly seasoned in delicious golden, crispy crumb with a juicy, tender centre. They’re perfect as a snacking option or paired with chips and dipping sauce for a kid’s plant-based meal.
