Edgell Supa Crunch Delivery Carton wins 2022 WorldStar Award

Edgell Supa Crunch Delivery Carton has received the ultimate packaging accolade – a 2022 WorldStar Award in the category of Packaging Materials & Components.

Running since 1970, the WorldStar Awards are the pre-eminent global packaging award, recognising excellence and raising the bar for the industry as a whole.

Simplot Australia developed Edgell Supa Crunch Delivery Chips to stay crunchy for up to 40 minutes throughout the delivery process to meet the needs of the foodservice channel. The innovative and sustainable packaging solution helps maintain crunch during delivery.

The pack design features a raised and ventilated floor and just the right amount of ventilation on the sides and top to allow steam condensate to escape while retaining heat. Air is drawn into the base which then vents at the top, so air filled with moisture from the chips can rise and escape. The relatively shallow carton allows the chips to spread out so they are not on top of one another. The one-way venting balances heat retention with the ability to let moisture escape, keeping the product crispy and hot.

If the customer finds the product has cooled too much, the packaging has been designed to be reheated in a microwave for 20 seconds, extending the life of the product by reducing the risk of spoilage due to cold soggy chips.

The pack was designed to be tamper-evident for product security and is stackable to allow for easier distribution of bulk product and to reduce the risk of crushing. The board is fully recyclable and FSC certified.
